Technical information
The first fifty images (1-50) on the Footprints database were produced from high-quality copy prints held by the South Auckland Research Centre for the ‘Footprints of Manukau’ online exhibition. These were photographed by PCL Imaging, Auckland, in May 2008 using a Canon EOS 5D and Adobe Photoshop CS4 Macintosh. The remaining images (00051 to 03996) have been produced for display, access and preservation purposes. These were photographed by AP Digital Consultancy Ltd, Lower Hutt, in batches between January 2010 and July 2011, using a Canon EOS 5D MK II and Adobe Photoshop CS4 Macintosh. These images came from a range of sources. The originals included glass-plate negatives, film negatives, postcards and both black-and-white and colour prints. In some cases copies were made from copy prints. These were of variable quality and the location of the original was not always traceable (some images may therefore be copies of second generation images). Sketches, watercolours and print-format items were mostly copied from the originals. |
