TIFFs

For the first fifty ‘Footprints of Manukau’ images, TIFFs were produced at 2244 pixels or greater along the longest edge and at 300 dpi.

For the remaining images, TIFFs were produced at a standard 6000 pixels wide at 600 dpi.

TIFFs have all been stored both on an external hard drive held by Auckland Libraries and in an enterprise level fibre channel storage array owned by Auckland Council. Access is restricted to designated staff.

JPEGs

For the first fifty ‘Footprints of Manukau’ images, JPEGs were produced at a standard 1024 pixels wide at 300 dpi and resized to 600 pixels wide at 300 dpi.

For the remaining images, two sets of JPEG derivative files were produced: one set at a standard 600 pixels wide and 600dpi, for access and research; the other at a standard 200 pixels wide and 600 dpi, for thumbnails and identification purposes. Both sets have JPEG value 8 compression with an embedded profile of SRGB.

Reproduction

Providing copyright requirements are met, digital copies of images on Footprints can be provided on request.

These will normally be provided as JPEGs at a standard 3000 pixels wide and 300 dpi, and in the case of multiple items, may be downloaded to dvd. There may be a cost involved.

Alternatively, if high quality print reproduction is required, copies of TIFFs can be downloaded to dvd. There will be a cost involved.

The Manukau Research Library does not provide copy prints from its collections.
